Etymology

The etymology of BELADAMAS brings us to ancient Greece. It is certain that diamonds were already known in Europe since the time of Plinie the Wise, who had described the stone extensively in his works as being extremely hard, colourless and resident to fire. Therefore, the Greeks called it ADAMAS which literally meant untameable or undestructible. The pre-fix BEL is the abbreviation for Belgium. It also means beautiful in French.
